Local Search: America Thinking “Yellow”

When Americans search for local services, they trust their Yellow Pages more than online search engines, at least according to the first “Local Media Tracking” study conducted by the market-research from Burke in contract with Yellow Pages Association..

According to the study, two thirds of the respondents trust the Yellow Pages more than other search engines, regardless of online or in print. The results are similar when it comes to rating the quality of provided information. And a third touché for the local directory: they’re still seven percent points higher than other search engines, with 65 percent.

Greg Sterling, America’s local search guru, gives the accolade to the study: “Search engines may be more frequently used by in-print or online directories, but the results from the Yellow Pages are likely to be of more use.”
