ShopAlert: Potential Millions for Location-Based Marketing

The American newbie Placecast can start loading up its cash-boxes. Multiple investors are so impressed with the fairly new service ShopAlert that they’ve increased their initial investment from 3 to 8 million dollars.

Only 6 months old and already making such big step…ShopAlert is the new LBS-technology with which business have the possibility to alert nearby potential customers of current deals per text message (as we previously reported ).

The cell-phone user simply gives in his or her favorite brands and they will be immediately alerted when they pass in a radius of nearby businesses which offer the services or products, regardless of whether or not they have a smartphone. This radius is defined by “geo-fences”, in a manner of speaking pre-defined radii determined by geocoding. With this, the provider can determine how close potential customers must be in order to receive a short alert.
