App-laus for Townster: German Foursquare on the Mark?
12 Apr. 2010 | Author: One would think that with the Local Search, every provider would be available for the iPhone, but there are always a few lagging behind. One of them is Townster.
There’s no arguement that the „Berliner Stadtportal“ (Berlin City Portal) temporary was in hibernation. At the end of 2008, it was sold for about 40,000 Euro on eBay (we report). That was a little while ago, but “good thing”.
The App, however, merely shows locations for food and drink, and only in Berlin. Still, it’s recommended by other users. What’s interesting is that Townster copied the popular check-in model, with which Foursquare and Gowalla are making quite a splash. Every check-in is rewarded with points, until you become a “local hero”. It’s exciting to see how accepted the function, nicknamed “local secret”, is in the trend setting capital city.
