Directory Media Prize 2010: And the Winners Are…

The Verband Deutscher Auskunfts- und Verzeichnismedien [vdav (Eng. Association of German Information and Directory Media) distributed the German Directory Media Prizes in the categories print, marketing campaign, and electronic directory media for the ninth consecutive year. First prize was awarded to the telephone book publisher Sutter, the service and marketing association DasÖrtliche, and the publishing company Heinz Heise.

The print category was pocketed by the Essen, Germany based Sutter Telefonbuchverlag GmbH for its action “Probier das Revier. Das leckerste Telefonbuch aller Zeiten” (Eng. Try out the home range. The most delicious telephone book of all time). The latest issue of DasTelefonbuch doesn’t only include phone numbers from the folks from Essen, but also gift certificates from more than 60 restaurants, amusement parks, and other experiences. The publishing company now covers more than 65 percent of all households, bringing in plus points thanks to interested parties and the style of the book.

In the category for electronic directory media, DasÖrtliche Marketinggesellschaft GmbH, also from Essen, pulled ahead with the “Weihnachtsmarktsuche von DasÖrtliche” (Eng. Christmas Market Search from DasÖrtliche). The seasonal local search, also available as an app on the iPhone and on Facebook under “Glühwein ausgeben” (Eng. Giving Mulled Wine), was able to impress with its implementation on the social media networks.

The publisher Heinz Heise in Hannover obtained the gold in the category for marketing campaigns. He was awarded for his two dimensional mailing institution of new text ad formats and for his work for DasTelefonbuch in the Rostock region. “The two dimensional mailing enforces the attention getting factor under the motto: “Stop! Here comes the new business class!” and exemplifies the advantages of text ad formats in a smart manner,” declared the jury upon their decision.
