Social Media Wave

Directory Media Prize 2010: And the Winners Are…
The Verband Deutscher Auskunfts- und Verzeichnismedien [vdav (Eng. Association of German Information and Directory Media) distributed the German Directory Media Prizes in the categories print, marketing campaign, and electronic directory media for the ninth consecutive year. First prize was awarded to the telephone book publisher Sutter, the service and marketing association DasÖrtliche, and the publishing company Heinz Heise.
Local Search goes Social Media
DasÖrtliche is always up to date and accordingly the know-all in the realm of social media. The last two Facebook applications “Väter macht blau! (Eng. Fathers get drunk)” for Father’s Day and “Blumen zum Muttertag (Eng. Flowers for Mother’s Day)” for Mother’s Day were a successful combination out of usefulness and fun.
Directories go World Cup
Even some German local search providers have caught on to the Soccer World Cup bandwagon. Definitely a perk to soccer fans who are looking for World Cup related services throughout the games. Gelbe Seiten has developed an iPhone App for the German market that every soccer fan can be excited about. Eleven clickable players reference sport bars, public viewings, and suppliers for every successful soccer fest, such as the next beer or fast food joint.
