Google Unveils Image Search Ads — Your Ads Now With Picture Thumbnails
Google seems to be unstoppable. A new Google Images-integrated product has been launched by the search engine giant: Google Image Search Ads. Advertising has now become much more efficient, accessible, and much more visual. Google’s one billion page views per day will definitely allow for mass advertising possibilities. “This allows you to reach hundreds of million of users who are searching on Google on a daily basis,” search product director Ben Ling says.
Ads are non-interfering with organic search results and will appear along the top of the image search. They will contain both an image, text, and will be clearly marked as sponsored links, according to Google’s CP of search product and user experience Marissa Mayer.
Though ads have previously been available on Google Images, the new thumbnails will be available for anyone – including the cute little café on the corner, the local bakery, and even the second-hand shop down the road. Virtually universal availability – great for the buyer and the seller.
The ads will start out on the Google Image search page, but Google is exploring expanding to other search products.
The launch is accompanied by a complete revamp of Google Images – the most drastic change since the 2001 release.
