Groupon Releasing in Both Russia and Japan

What is a portal to do when its successful operating ideas are copied and shipped around the world wide web in order to get a piece of the growth? It’s actually quite simple: it just buys a couple of the phonies. At least, that’s how the coupon portal Groupon is going about doing it. With the purchase of the Russian Klons Darberry.ru and the Japanese Qpod.jp, Groupon is positioning itself for the Asian market and now operates in 29 countries.

Bereits im Mai dieses Jahres schnappte sich der Online-Rabattcoupon-Anbieter den europäischen Nachahmer Citydeal. Dem Wirtschaftsmagazin Forbes nach ist der erst 22 Monate junge Dienst das am schnellsten wachsende Online-Unternehmen der Internetgeschichte. Die US-amerikanische Bank Morgan Stanley schätzt den Jahreserlös von Groupon auf über 500 Millionen Dollar. Der Gesamtwert des Unternehmens erreichte im April dieses Jahres bereits über eine Milliarde Dollar.The online coupon dealer already took over the European copycat Citydeal in May. The economic magazine Forbes reports the 22 month old company as being the quickest growing online company in the history of the internet. The American bank Morgan Stanley estimates the total sales revenue of the company to be at about 500 Million dollars, with a net worth of over one billion dollars.
