On to the next round: Yelp gives it to Groupon, and hard
Welcome to the club: now the rating community Yelp is offering a “deal of the day”. The start-up is just in San Diego. Next in line are New York and San Francisco.
No one should be surprised by this. Online deal are currently the new trend in the local search world. Groupon is the mother of all the deal services, and in Germany, kaufDA has released a similar concept with some more refined features.
Yelp doesn’t want to lose its share of the kill. Unlike the main competitor Groupon, there currently isn’t any group deals. Groupon only lets deals get going if there are several users interested. Even if the number of deals are currently by null, the implementation is possibly more useful than that of Groupon. By Yelp, users can pick out interesting deals right at the right moment, without having to search for particular providers. Deals gone live, so to speak…
