Facebook Places: Checking-In and Collecting Points for Travel
This is how check-ins are made fun: Topguest, a so-called all-in-one check-in service, has now integrated Facebook Places with itself. So whoever uses Facebook Places check-in service and links it to their Topguest account can collect points and use them later to help for travel.
Topguest is already doing this with a number of other check-in services, such as Foursquare and Gowalla. The idea is simple and sexy: whoever say, checks into a particular hotel chain ten times – no, not just at the desk, but also on the cell – gets 25% off the next booking. This is currently being practices by the hotel chain The Standard and with a combination of a bonus program from Holiday Inn.
Topquest is still pretty young, namely a few months old, and is still in the process of collecting partners. The tech-blog Mashable has already dubbed the start-up as being a “spark of genius”. A good decision: who checks in anymore for a free drink? The providers of these mobile services are going to have to think of something new. Topquest has the right idea.
