Foodspotting and the Primary Instincts: “I’m Hungry!!!”
Life is actually about a few important things, one of which being food. The location-based service Foodspotting totally takes advantage of this. Pretty much whenever someone ate something delicious, they manage to post a scrumptious picture, with the address attached, right into the net.
Indeed, the picture should be of the food before consumption and not of the empty plate. Whoever understands this basic rule can jump on it. Just register and it’s off to the next restaurant, café, or bistro.
When the dishes are on the table, just take a picture, find the restaurant on the map, and, if you can manage to fight your hunger just a little longer, write a few words to the food, so that users can read a little bit too (this is optional). Then the foodspotters are satisfied – it comes from the luxurious approach.
Whoever is on the lookout for a particular dish can just type in his or her current location and the desired dish, and the results (if there are any) will pop up. For the more fervent and more followed users of the community, there are rewards, known as “tips”, which can be collected. The more tips one has, the more favorite dishes can be posted. More coverage for a good reputation, so to say.
There are currently about 400,000 users, and the base is growing, even in Germany.
