Location Wars II: Bing’s Next Step

What a coincidence: one day after Google caused an earthquake in the local search engine world with Places Search, Bing releases an almost touchingly charmily how-to for locating Locations.
There’s no question: Bing’s got guts. No one was able to come up with something so quickly and so intelligently after the launch of Places Search as the Microsoft search engine. Under the signified title ”Getting places faster with Bing Local” blogs Lori Stock a type of user manual for local searches with Bing. “Lately there’s been a lot of discussion about how to find what you’re looking for locally,” she writes. The direction is pretty clear. “Understanding intent is the first step and a critical area of focus for Bing.” Okay…
Well, whatever: the “magic” of local search with Bing, we learned, is in the numerous filter possibilities, which are specified for the search of a specific location. That is, whoever searches for a bike shop will have different filter possibilities than someone searching for a hotel.
There is certainly no need for satire. But this blog post just goes to show again that even the mid-sized power like Bing is scared to death by Google’s new move.
Location Wars…well underway!
