Location Wars III: Boost – Google Ads Turbo
Quite a few individuals must have been puzzled by Google’s sudden awakening from a long hibernation in the local search sector. With Boost, it will be easy as pie to inform oneself about their current position, promised Googles Lat-Long Blog. Today we know that this was only a prelude to the major offensive…
Only four days before Mountain View let a real time bomb go off with the launch of Places Search, product manager Kiley McEvoy posted an interesting piece about a new advertising feature called Boost. One could even call it “Turbo”. On a mission for the market researcher BIA/Kelsey, McEvoy writes: “research shows that 97% of people conduct research online before buying locally. Hopefully you’ve gone to Google Places to claim your free business listing that appears on Google and Google Maps.”
Hopefully – since Boost has arrived! Now, businesses can directly create local ads in order to get attention from customers in their vicinity using their Places account, promises Google. What makes this offer so attractive is that featured ads are placed right at the top of the display, making it extremely noticeable.
Whoever is reminded of the results through Google Places Search definitely isn’t suffering from a hallucination…
By the way, even though it may be a bit redundant, the new feature is only available in the USA, and there only in San Francisco, Houston, and Chicago. Hmm…
