meinestadt.de now with 2000 up-to-date city blogs

After testing the blog project Stadt Aktuell for four months, the city portal meinestadt.de has now released a city blog for the 200 cities in Germany with the largest population.

In the blogs, news from specific location editorial sources, local websites and clubs, as well as private blogs. In addition, users can follow the so-called “Stadtgetwitter”, which is a type of live-ticker of local Twitter news. The city portal doesn’t necessarily see its offering as competition for daily newspapers, but rather as a good and continuative addition. “Here is room for colorful announcements and opinions that generally don’t have the opportunity to make it into the printed press,” explains Armin Gellweiler from meinestadt.de. Local website operators, clubs, and city bloggers can participate in the project. Those interested can email the Stadt Aktuell editorial office (aktuell@meinestadt.de) or just register for the blog. This applies to anyone who wants to be a civilian reporter for news in their city.
A summary of the 2000 active cities is sorted into the federal states at http://aktuell.meinestadt.de/. There is still a lot of information missing, but after the Local Search Blog asked about this, the company said that this will be changed in the next few days.
