Study: 95 Percent Use Directories
In this country, information and directive media sources continue to become more and more popularity: 95 percent of all Germans use them in print form, online, or mobile. The strongest in the market next to the classic books are the online and mobile possibilities. This was ascertained by the Verband Deutscher Auskunfts- und Verzeichnismedien (Eng. Organization of German Informative and Directive Medias) by the marketing research institute Ipsos in a commissioned study.
For the study, market researchers interviewed about 2,000 people over a period of 14 years by the end of 2010. According to the study, 77 percent still prefer printed material when looking for commercial or private contacts. About 45 percent use the internet – seven percent more than the year before. About two thirds of the users still use the classic print variation. The portion that exclusively uses the internet has grown to 36 percent. In 2009, only about 1.4 percent used smartphones to obtain information, which has raised to 5 percent just one year later.
