Courtship Between Google, Facebook, and Twitter
The micro-messaging service Twitter is now being appraised at a fat 8 to 10 billion dollars, at least in the eyes of Google and Facebook. The finance branch appraised Twitter’s worth to be around 3.7 billion dollars last December.
According to information sources, both companies, as well as a few others, have begun negotiations with Twitter regarding a buy, says the Wall Street Journal. These discussions have yet to have any results. Just a few weeks ago, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo declared the company wants to remain independent and to continue working on its own development, according to the new agency AFP. There are also no discussions about a release to the stock market. Twitter is here to stay.
What is remarkable about the story is that the estimated worth of the company has more than doubled in less than two months. A finance expert explained to the Wall Street Journal that these numbers are not warrantable, though social-media start-ups have a lot of information about their users, which is very valuable on the market. The gold rush in the internet is still alive and well.
