Popula iPhone App: Events on the Spot
popula GmbH has developed an app which makes it possible to discover over a million events in Germany. Users not only have the ability to view current events in the vicinity using the local search option, but can also use practical features like linking up with Facebook to use the news feed or calendar feature.
openeventnetwork.de delivers the data to popula, in a partnership which began in September of last year. Hosts can upload their information for free, which in turn will be displayed on other portals like the online-offering of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeigers, the Hamburger Morgenpost or the Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung, as well as on popula.de. Users will also find events from popula’s ticket and content partners.
Using the free iPhone app, users can now search for events from popula.de, exchange tips with Facebook friends, mark important dates in their calendars, or inform themselves about events from fields that are interesting to them, and all of the on-the-go. The only think that is not possible using the app is to post new events. In order to do that, users have to continue to visit openeventnetwork.de. But this doesn’t seem to be a big deal for the current users. As Christoph Grimm, the marketing director from popula GmbH, explains to the Local Search Blog, the previous feedback has been overwhelming. “In just the first five days, we registered 25,000 downloads,” he said. And all good things have got to be made even better: a stronger interaction with Facebook is currently being planned. The events from the social network should soon be able to be found in the popula app, revealed Grimm. And they are diligently working on an Android version.
