Foursquare Integrates Coupons From Five New Partners
The location-based check-in service Foursquare is expanding its coupon offering: starting immediately, the new app will be offering dailys deals fromLivingSocial, Gilt City, zozi, BuyWithMe, and AT&T Interactive, according to the company’s blog. The Wall Street Journal reports that Foursquare is currently in discussion with Croupon. This information was classified as confidential.
Companies can active deals on Foursquare for quite some time now using the special program, which makes coupons from known partners more attractive and worth while for the geodata-service. And that’s a cry for help: although the company, which was founded just about two and a half years ago, has about ten million users worldwide with about three million check-ins daily, and despite the estimated value of about 600 million USD, the company is deep in the red.
Foursquare CEO Dennis Crowley said that the company will be making revenue from the deals, according to the Wall Street Journal. Sure, why not join in? Crowley did not specify exactly how much Foursquare would be profiting, however. The chances that Foursquare will be able to pull itself out of financial problems with the deals doesn’t seem too far-fetched. Special offers are quite a bit different than other competitor offerings: they are designed especially for the user, in other words, personalized deals. The check-in service could, for example, offer a deal for a bar that was already visited by two of a user’s friends. Users will also know the reason why certain deals are suiting for them. In addition, there are also location-based deals available.
The new app is available for BlackBerry, Android, and the iPhone in the USA, the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. But that is just the beginning.
