“Never Miss a Place You’ll Love” with Alfred
We’re always on the lookout for new apps, and this one has definitely caught our attention: Alfred. This app, available for a free download in the iTunes App Store helps users discover new restaurants, cafés, bars, and even nightclubs, customized to the user’s personal taste. This is made possible using the Serendipity Engine from Clever Sense.
The app is cute and elegant, and very user-friendly. Users begin by “teaching” the app where their favorite places are, which allows the app to make some recommendations. The app keeps track of which new locations the user visits, and users have the ability to rate them as well. Users can constantly search for new places, which are categorized under quick picks, coffee & tea, breakfast, lunch, dessert, dinner, drinks, nightlife, and brunch. And because the app uses the iPhone’s location services, all of the recommendations are displayed in the local vicinity. Of course, users also have the ability to search for places anywhere.
The app only works in the US at this time, but under the description, it claims to be “learning a lot about other countries” and that it will be releasing in new countries soon.
