Trover-App: Location-Based Discovery Network Now For Android

Android users can now enjoy the mobile Trover application to discover their current location or even the entire world with location-based photos. The start-up company Trover launched in July of this year with its iPhone app. Now the “mobile discovery network” has over 100 thousand users in 160 countries around the world, according to the site. With the new launch of the Android version, there is a lot of potential new customers.
A fun application worth trying out: those who download the app onto their iPhone or Android smartphone receives photos shot by other users from their local vicinity, or through manual entry, from a place of choice. No, not family portraits or private shots, but pictures of places and things that other users think are worth seeing. Users wishing to share their own snapshots simply have to upload them onto the app.
What we really enjoy is the display of the photos: the layout shows all the photos as thumbnails according to distance, from sites to other interesting locations on-site. When the user scrolls down the list, the distance between the actual location and the place where the picture was shot grows. Per mouseover, users can see who took the picture and where. By clicking on the picture, it enlarges and shows exactly where it was taken on a map, as well as displaying other pictures taken nearby, and other shots taken by the user. In addition, users can see how many views each picture has received and its rating. Photos can also be shared with friends on Facebook and Twitter.
