Alfred Now Belongs to Google

Google has taken over the company Clever Sense, which developed the successful local recommendation app “Alfred”. The startup seems to be over-joyed about the current developments, as seen in a press statement. The team is excited to belong to Google. Through cooperation, the company is one step closer to helping the world around itself.
Definitely sounds interesting, considering the Alfred app already offers far more than a local-search application. The app works with a system based on artificial intelligence: Alfred collects the preferences of its user for various places, defined by type, location, and time-of-day, and delivers the user local offerings of restaurants, cafés, bars, or clubs that the user might like. With “group recommendations”, the app can also find places that suit the taste of multiple parties.

One can speculation greatly as to what Google has planned for the intelligent mobile assistant, as there are many possibilities: an integration into the Google+ social network would be possible, but the technology would better suit Google Offers. It would also be possible to imagine voice command, which could possibly imply a new competitor for Apple’s personal assistant “Siri, available on the iPhone 4S. Surely we’ll know in the near future.
