Das Örtliche: 1 Million Using iPhone App

The mobile application for the iPhone from Das Örtliche now boasts over one million downloads. What does this success mean? The app provides a dependable, mobile local-search, with which users can find service providers and retailers on-the-go and find the way there with a built-in route planner.
Those who download the free application for the iPhone can find different options in addition to the regular mobile address and telephone number search, such as individual search or a themed vicinity search. The latter delivers information pertinent to individual categories like “Hotels and Accomidations” or “Sport and Free-time” and shows these in the local vicinity in either a map, an aerial view, or an angular view.
In addition, there are other features like the backwards search, which users can use to identify unknown phone numbers, a note function to save entries, and the possibility to save information to iPhone contacts or forward the info per email. Also neat is that users can call the numbers directly through the app, and about 500,000 companies can be called for free with the free call function, according to a press release. The app is also available for most other smartphone devices.
