Find Christmas Presents with Location-Based Services
About half of all Germans search and purchase Christmas presents online. Nevertheless, about forty percent buy their presents in stores on-the-go – but many users wouldn’t mind having some assistance using location-based services while trying to find the perfect Christmas gift, according to a study from Gelbe Seiten with the market research institution Innofact AG. Just in time for the Advent season, several location-based services have release new services to help users find the perfect gift in local stores. We would like to present two of them:
The online directory Gelbe Seiten has released its “Geschenke-Finder” (Eng. Gift Finder), which can be found under www.gelbeseiten.de/geschenkefinder. The app delivers gift ideas in different categories, like “For Her”, “For Him”, “For Children”, and “For the Holidays” from different categories like wellness, sensual, jewelry, perfume, or events. With a click on “Jewelry”, for example, users can see numerous jewelers and goldsmiths with address and telephone number in the area after entering their location. Providers can also be found on a handy map with a route planner.
The deal portal Marktjagd.de takes a completely different approach to the process: in the Marktjagd-Christmas Trends, products that are currently a hit with the platform’s users are displayed. And as it should be with any other location-based service, users do not only see which products are hot, but also see where they can locate the products nearby – including a description of the article, price, as well as opening times. There is also a map and a route planner for users.
