11880.com: Local Search Engine with new Start City Pages

The Telegate AG has given its online directory 11880.com a facelift: the portal will open with a location-based local search for the correlating city. The new feature is described as being more local, personal, and structured by Kirstin Bergmann in the company’s official blog.
Take a bit of golocal, meinestadt.de, and a pinch of qype, mix it carefully together and voilà: the city sites are presented in a magazine-style layout with relevant, location-based information. The pages are not cluttered, so local results are efficiently summarized. In the top frame, local recommendations from other 11880.com users are visible, beneath it the top-rated locations, but just for the cities Essen, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, and Frankfurt. Additional cities should be coming soon. According to the company’s blog, there are over 100,000 unique user entries on the site.
Taking center stage are the local directory entries, which are neatly categorized to inform users of services within their vicinity. In addition, local news from different portals and information about events are currently available for the cities of Munich and Düsseldorf.
