The eleventh representation Ipsos-study about the use of directories has released some amazing results: not only do 96.3 percent of all Germans use various directories in their search for private and business contacts in addition to shopping possibilities, but also that the printed version remains the most popular. TomTom: Local Search App Now for Android
The free local search application “Places” from TomTom is now available for Android smartphone users, just three months after the launch of the iPhone app. Users can find stores, restaurants, and sights in their vicinity within eight countries. The app combines data from ten million POIs (Points of Interest) from local directories in the corresponding country, according to TomTom. In Germany, the company is working together with Gelbe Seiten.

meinestadt.de Integrates Local Deals
Since the beginning of the month, meinestadt.de offers local deal coupons in addition to regional deal guides. Users can find new deals from national coupon platforms like Groupon or DailyDeal, in addition to regional deal offerings in the new “Deals” menu.
After choosing the preferred city, users are directly directed to the latest local deals. For now, there will be about 2,000 deals from the approximately 70 largest cities in Germany, according to a press release. Those who come from smaller cities can see deals within 80 kilometers. In addition, everyone can access the national “online-deals”. These appear automatically under the offering for local deals.
Those who prefer to receive the latest deals in their email can also subscriber to the deal-newsletter.
