Where To?: 3-D Feature Free for Telekom Customers
The paid local search iPhone app Where To? has promised Telekom cellular customers even more fun: the augmented reality function “Where To? 3-D is now free. For other users, a fee of 0.79 Euros will be charged after a 30-day free trial. The chief executive officer of the carrier, FutureTap’s Ortwin Gentz, alerted us of this. ILM East: Local Search’s Mega Trends
The ILM East, one of the most important conferences for local search, brought experts from around the world together in Boston last week. In the three days, numerous panels discusses the hottest trends in the branch – from Boom with daily deals to social media strategies for regional providers to “VidLoMo” – local marketing with videos. Especially in video marketing there is a lot of room for improvement – large, national and international firms dominate in this respect, as represented in the discussion panel “VidLoMo – Integrating Video Into Local Marketing”. According to John McIntyre, chief executive at Backyard, this is due to a lack of trust in the communication medium on the part of small businesses. “Innovations must deliver clear results,” he explains. Google: Previous Local Searches Now Accessible
Those who conduct a search by google.com can now pull up their most recent searches including results on the go with a single click. After say, conducting a search on a PC for information about a certain location, users can pull up this data on their Android or iPhone in their next search on Google.com, including directions or relevant information about the location, all by clicking on the “Recent” icon, according to Junichi Uekawa in the company’s mobile blog.

“The next generation of mobile local search” is how Telegate describes its new apps specially developed for the iPad for its two local-search services klickTel and 11880.com. The new mobile applications completely use the capabilities of the Apple tablets: users not only have access to 28 million private and business addresses in from the Telegate directory, but can also find various multimedia content such as photos and videos for service providers.
