The location-based mobile check-in and rating service Ditto now belongs to the online coupon giant Groupon. Just about three weeks ago, the geo-location service Foursquare launched its “Explore” feature for the online version, offering users personalized, location-based recommendations for various businesses all over the world. The location-based check in service Foursquare recently expanded its “Explore” feature to its web-based version, providing users with personalized recommendations for bars, museums, or other locations. Now users can also look at the menu of about 250,000 restaurants in the largest cities of the US. The data is provided by the startup SinglePlatform, according to the company blog.
The menus will be available for the desktop feature Explore, on foursquare.com, and on m.foursquare.com, and app integration is on the way. In addition to the various meals served at restaurants, some also display prices.

As Google receives a good deal of critique for its new personalized internet search, Foursquare has been receiving much positive feedback from its users for its similar direction. And what would have been if they had known each other? Because of questions like this, Ryan Kennedy developed Conga, which is actually a hand drum. With the help of location-based tweets, check-ins on Foursquare, or manual entries, the new community informs users whether or not they have subconsciously run into each other before. After all, when these people regularly visit the same places, there might even be a chance that they have similar interests. And who knows what the “congo” might lead to…
