Location-Based Social Network: Geld für Gowalla

Die Geocaching-Community Gowalla hat Geld bekommen: Risikokapital-Geber, allen voran Greylock Partners, haben dem Start-up aus Texas 8,4 Millionen US-Dollar gegeben, um sein Geschäft voranzutreiben.

Gegründet 2007, gestartet im Herbst letzten Jahres, hat die online organisierte, ortsbezogene „Reiseführer-Schnitzeljagd“ Gowalla eine erkleckliche Summe von zehn Millionen US-Dollar auf sich vereinen können. Hinzu kommen laut LBS Insight 50.000 User, die über 150.000 Standorte in mehr als 8.500 Städten und rund 100 Ländern berichten. Jeden Tag loggen sich 20.000 Mitglieder ein und fügen dem Netzwerk gut 3.500 Standorte hinzu.
