GoYellow-App fürs iPhone

Auch von GoYellow.de gibt es nun eine kostenlose Anwendung für das iPhone.
Das verkündet der Betreiber der Internetauskunft in einer Pressemitteilung. Damit sollen Nutzer des Apple-Handys auf mehr als 34 Millionen gewerbliche und private Daten zugreifen und diese in ihrem privaten Adressbuch abspeichern können. Die zusätzliche Funktion „Radar“ zeige überdies beispielsweise Hotels, öffentliche Gebäude, Geschäfte, Kinos oder Friseure in der unmittelbaren Umgebung des Users auf dem Handy-Display an.
Übrigens soll auch eine spezielle Applikation der Onlineauskunft für das Google-Handy in Kürze folgen. Laut GoYellow ist ein Start für Ende Juni 2009 geplant.

Frühjahrsputz bei dastelefonbuch.de

DasTelefonbuch hat seiner Webseite dastelefonbuch.de eine Rundum-Erneuerung spendiert. Neben einem neuen Layout wartet das Online-Adressverzeichnis auch mit neuen Features auf.
Die wichtigsten Neuerungen laut einer Pressemitteilung:
- Neugestaltung der gesamten Website mit direkterer Menüführung.
- Recherchen können von jeder Unterseite aus verfeinert, verändert oder neu gestartet werden.
- Die Nutzer können via „Feedback-Button“ in der Trefferliste mitteilen, ob sie mit den Suchergebnissen zufrieden sind.
- Die Rückwärtssuche ist bei gewerblichen Teilnehmern auch mittels Adressdaten möglich.
- Gefundene Kontaktdaten können per Mouseover-Effekt unter den einzelnen Einträgen direkt aus der Trefferliste weiterbe-arbeitet werden – zum Beispiel können die Nutzer den Kontakt via SMS oder E-Mail versenden, sich die Adressdaten herunterladen oder in der Kartenansicht anzeigen lassen.
- Die Detailansicht zeigt die Adresse gleich auch in einem Kartenausschnitt an. Dem User werden weiterhin interessante Zusatzinformationen zu einem gewerblichen Eintrag, zum Beispiel mit Videos oder Anzeigen, geboten.
YellowMap.de: Unterwegs ins Netz

Bei YellowMap.de kann man nun noch gezielter nach geeigneten WLAN-Hotspots suchen. Dazu kooperiert das Online-Verzeichnis mit Portel.de, einem B2B-Portal für Telekommunikation in Deutschland.
Mit dem verbesserten Dienst lassen sich ab sofort bundesweit rund 11.000 öffentlich zugängliche WLAN-Hotspots finden, erklärt die YellowMap AG in einer Pressemitteilung. Dabei erfahre man nicht nur, wo sich Funknetzwerke in der gewünschten Umgebung befinden, sondern erhalte auch aktuelle Informationen über Kosten, Konditionen und Zugangsdaten des jeweiligen Anbieters vor Ort. Ein fünfstufiges Bewertungssystem für die Hotspots komplettiere den Service.
Der Dienst ist über www.YellowMap.de oder www.Businesshotspot.de abrufbar, und mobil per Handy – etwa über www.YellowMap.mobi oder iphone.YellowMap.de.
YellowMap app for the iPhone3G
The online directory YellowMap launched its mobile search iPhone app in November 2007 (see our report). The company has now updated its application for the current iPhone3G model.
This is available for users via the AppStore, free of charge, as outlined in a press release by YellowMap AG.
When running a local search with this service, the geolocation of the user is automatically conveyed to the service provider. Local information is then provided, such as Travel, Shopping, Emergency or Eating & Drinking. Current traffic conditions are also accessible as well as addresses of the nearest cash machines, WiFi hotspots, filling stations (with current pricing) or pharmacies – many of which with detailed information including opening times.
Parallel to the automatic local search, the user can search specifically for other locations, where one has full access to the entire YellowMap.de database online.
GelbeSeiten.de: moving images now more prominent
The online branch-directory GelbeSeiten.de now allows direct searches for entries with company videos.
Multimedia content is of growing interest for online directory services – with photos and especially videos, companies can present their good and services, and give potential clients a rapid impression of their offerings. Several local search services are now offering the option of pepping up firms’ directory entries with video clips; these include Google Maps, 11880.com and Klicktel.de.
The GelbeSeiten.de has also been offering this functionality for some while. To enable users to find these videos faster, the online directory has included a special search page for this purpose, to be found under the tab “Firmenvideos” [en= Company videos]. As mentioned on their website by Greven’s Adreßbuch-Verlag, one of the many GelbeSeiten publishers in Germany, there are approximately 4,000 videos online, from clients within their catchment area.
KlickTel ported to Android mobile phones
Alongside other local search services such as Google Maps and Qype, the provider KlickTel has released a special Android-version, for devices such as the Google G1 Smartphone.
With “klickTel for Android” the mobile G1-user can access addresses, telephone numbers, as well as branch directory and traffic information, according to Telegate Media, the operators of KlickTel, in a recent press release. GPS-based local search is also facilitated, allowing locating of cash dispensers, fast food restaurants, or after-hours pharmacies in their immediate vicinity. The application offers the same features as the KlickTel Service for the iPhone (launched in January 2009 – see our post).
According to Telegate Media, users can download the application gratis from the Android Market.
Metasearch
Improvements are also to be discovered on KlickTel’s website. Here users can use the so-called Metasearch, as was announced in a Telegate Media newsletter. Instead of filling out many individual search fields, thanks to the new Metasearch, the search can be achieved through a simplified query. To do this, the user enters the search term in the “Who/what are you looking for?” field on the start page, and then the location in the “Where?” field.
